Freight Forwarder Export Business Process Grand Unveiling: Full Analysis from Consignment to Pick-up

The starting point is the establishment of cooperation between the trader and the freight forwarder company. When a trader, such as Mr. Lin company, has goods to export, they will entrust a professional freight forwarder company like Zhongmaoda. At this time, Mr. Lin needs to provide Zhongmaoda with detailed information about the goods, including the name, quantity, weight, volume, packaging form, port of loading, port of destination, etc. Zhongmaoda will evaluate whether it can undertake the business based on this information and its own resources and experience, and provide a corresponding service quotation.

Booking Operations

After both parties reach a consensus, Zhongmaoda will proceed with booking. Zhongmaoda's staff will book space with carriers such as shipping companies or airlines based on the shipment time of the goods. Accurate booking information must be provided during booking, such as bill of lading type, shipper, consignee, notify party, cargo description, number of pieces, weight, volume, etc. After receiving the booking information, the carrier will determine whether to accept the booking based on its own space availability. If accepted, a booking confirmation will be issued to Zhongmaoda, meaning the space reservation is successful.

Cargo Consolidation and Container Loading

Next, Mr. Lin needs to transport the goods to the designated location on time according to Zhongmaoda's requirements. If it is a full container load, the goods will be directly transported to the container yard to wait for loading; if it is a less than container load (LCL), it will be transported to the warehouse designated by the freight forwarder company for consolidation. Zhongmaoda will arrange professional personnel to supervise the container loading process, ensuring that the goods are reasonably placed and secured inside the container to avoid damage due to collisions during transportation.

Customs Declaration and Inspection

After the cargo is loaded into the container, Zhongmaoda will prepare the relevant documents for customs declaration and inspection with the customs and inspection and quarantine authorities. Customs declaration documents usually include the customs declaration form, commercial invoice, packing list, contract, power of attorney for customs declaration, etc. For inspection, corresponding inspection and quarantine certificates or declarations need to be provided based on the specific situation of the goods. Only after the customs and inspection and quarantine authorities approve can the goods be exported smoothly.

Loading onto Ship or Plane for Shipment

Once customs declaration and inspection are completed and the goods meet the conditions for shipment, they will be loaded onto the ship or plane as planned. Zhongmaoda will closely monitor the loading of the goods and communicate with the carrier in a timely manner to obtain the bill of lading or air waybill.

Fee Settlement and Bill of Lading Issuance

After the goods are shipped, Zhongmaoda will settle the fees with Mr. Lin, including a series of related fees such as sea freight, air freight, customs declaration fees, booking fees, etc. After Mr. Lin has paid all fees, Zhongmaoda will issue the bill of lading to Mr. Lin, who will then send the bill of lading to the overseas consignee, enabling the consignee to pick up the goods at the port of destination.

The freight forwarder export business process is like a meticulously arranged symphony, where each link is closely connected and indispensable.
